Yawie

Yawie is a hydrothermal fish and the final main mission boss in Dave the Diver.

Description[]

A gigantic, evolved marine creature. Able to swiftly move and catch its prey using its pincers, it reigned as the top predator in the Cambrian seas.

Biography[]

It's presumed that Yawie is at least 500 million years old, and was trapped and frozen in ice in the Glacier Area like the rest of the ancient sea creatures before it. Around 800 years ago, Yawie and the other Anomalocaris were freed by the sea people, and they were altered by the ancient senior technician, Dasche, by infusing the extracted energy into them. One of those individuals was Yawie. At some point, it slipped into the Divine tree control room and started feeding off the Divine tree energy. Over that period, it began to grow and evolve.

At some point, the residents of the sea village met Yawie and recorded it, since it is said to be legendary.

Present day[]

Around the time Dave arrived at the Blue Hole to work with Cobra for Bancho Sushi, earthquakes had been happening for a while. Eventually, Dave discovered that the source of the disturbance was a bunch of anomalocaris' eggs attached to the Divine tree's roots. After defeating them, Dave discovers a bunch more absorbing energy from the Nucleus of the divine tree. He kills them, before suddenly seeing Yawie arising from a pool of magma directly underneath the Nucleus.

Before Dave gets eaten by it, Dr. Bacon and Duff's drone come in and transform into a battle mode, allowing Dave to go head to head with Yawie. After a fight in the room, Yawie tries to escape via one of the hallways, but Dave gives chase. After chasing it down, Yawie gets stuck in some roots and mucus before being finished off by a divine tree fruit device.

Legacy[]

After its death, Dave becomes a hero to the sea people, even earning a statue of his likeness next to King Long. Sato also receives a Yawie card for Marinca.

Abilities[]

Due to the absorption of dive tree energy and hydrothermal energy over hundreds of years, Yawie gained some unique abilities.

Physical Resistance

Yawie Is completely Immune to all conventional weapons and bullets, only able to be damaged by specialized torpedoes and energy blasts.

Immortality

Due to being an Anomalocaris, Yawie has to be at least 520–499 Million years old, since it was frozen in ice for millions of years. Being infused with the Divine Tree Energy allowed it to last even longer, possibly forever.

Fire resistance

Yawie was first seen arising from underneath a pool of lava, showing that it can withstand massive amounts of heat.

Divine tree energy

Yawie can launch energy orbs from its tail that will explode after a short time.

Fire breath

Yawie can directly spew out a stream of plasma from its mouth in a direction, though it does take a second to charge.
Yawie can also launch balls of energy that explode and split off into many smaller balls.

Commands

Yawie seems to be able to directly order groups of altered young anomalocaris along with plasma fish to attack its target.

Notes[]

Dr Bacon mentions that it's "massively bigger" Leading to the conclusion that the sea people's first encounter with Yawie was hundreds of years ago.
To claim Yawie's Inner Flesh and Yawie Steamed Meat, you must return to where it was defeated after the credits.
When starting the fight, its boss title was previously called "Anomalocaris" in v1.0.0.947. In the later update, it was now changed to its name "Yawie."
Yawie is more likely an individual name given by the Sea People, much like how Klaus the Great White Shark was named by Clara (and presumably Lusca as well).
Yawie is the final boss of the game having 3 phases when you fight him on Duff's attack drone
