Maki is a minor character and sushi staff in Dave the Diver.

Maki arrives on the evening after the mission Speak with the Sea People. Completion of her first sub mission, Reticent Girl unlocks the Bug Net. Completing her second mission Catch Clione prompts her to join Bancho Sushi's Staff.

Maki is the fastest Cook in the game by far, and the worst Staff member at every other role. She is also completely unpaid and cannot be dismissed, making her the best cook available.

Story[]

Dave will first encounter Maki, a wandering high school student, on the evening after collecting corals for Ramo, during Chapter 2, when she quietly enters the restaurant. After Dave informs her that the bar hadn't opened yet, the puppet on Maki's left hand (named Clione, modeled after the fish Clione and given to Maki by her father) rudely berates Dave and demands food, while Maki insists it isn't her speaking. Bancho notes that Maki may be using a method of therapy which allows traumatized kids speak their mind through dolls.

This encounter initiates the Reticent Girl sub-mission, which is completed by serving her White Trevally Kombu Ochazuke. Afterward, she reveals that her reason for ordering this dish was because it's her missing father's favorite, and she came to the restaurant looking for leads on his location, thinking he might have patronized Bancho Sushi for that dish. She also gives Dave the Bug Net and asks him to use it to catch some Clione, as she hasn't seen a real one (only her hand puppet). While her father never did visit the restaurant (the Ochazuke couldn't have been served before Maki appeared), Dave finds out the apparent truth about what happened to him after catching the Clione for her, being whisked away to a Boss fight against the Clione Queen, after which he finds a picture of Maki and her father, complete with an audio recording from him, saying his goodbyes to Maki.
