Lois Crawford is a character in Dave the Diver.
Biography[]
Lois was a proclaimed actress, with her most famous work being in The 42nd Floor where she played as a spy. However, being the daughter of the equally famed businessman and chef, Nolan Crawford, Lois was also well versed as a food critic. This caused restaurants to be on edge when she'd visit if she found their food lackluster, as she'd leave a scathing review of them.
One day, she booked a stay at the Dugong Hotel and was served food by one of their top chefs, Bancho. Bancho remained silent while Lois was served the specially prepared menu that he and Yoshie had settled on. However, Lois made it known she found the Japanese cuisine she was served rather ordinary, to which Bancho then spoke up, noting he had been holding back on his skills and offered to bring forth the dish he originally wanted to serve. Yoshie tried to stop Bancho but, intrigued, Lois asked what this so-claimed amazing dish was, and Bancho presented a Whole-Roasted Shark Head. Lois was immediately revolted by the dish's appearance, being an entire shark's head, and refused to even try it despite Bancho's insistence it had an amazing flavor profile. She promptly left and wrote up a devastating review of the food and hotel. However, this backfired on her as many pointed out how she had refused to even try it and didn't even give the food a proper review, being so focused on the disgusting appearance of it instead.
After her poor review of the hotel and Bancho, Lois' work as an actress declined and her reputation as a food critic fell to the wayside. 12 years after the incident, she learned that Bancho was the current top chef on a new show, Challenge the Chef. On top of this, she found out her father's restaurant franchise, B&C Company, was helping sponsor the show. Still bitter about the past events and seeing this as a moment to show Bancho what real culinary elegance was, she brought the renowned Italian chef, Pastro Antogiovani, to challenge Bancho.
When Pastro and Bancho faced off with their dishes, the judge of the show, Vincent, ultimately declared Bancho as the winner. When Lois cried out over this, Vincent pointed out that while Pastro's dish was perfect on a technical basis, his dish was lacking a critical thing Vincent had learned from Nolan Crawford himself many years ago and what Bancho's dish had: passion. Vincent then convinced Lois to give the latest dish Bancho had made for the competition a try. Lois reluctantly agreed and took a bite and was immediately overcome with memories of when she played a spy in a movie and went diving into a dark ocean. Overcome by this, she changed her stance about Bancho and, wishing to help spread his food philosophy so others could also enjoy it, offered to open up a Bancho Sushi branch that was all paid for by her family's business.
Appearances[]
