Dave the Diver Wiki

Game Parlor is a location in Dave the Diver.

Found in the Eastern side of the Sea People Village, the Game Parlor is a popular place of entertainment for the Sea People where they can bet in games of luck and skill or race their seahorses at the Seahorse Racecourse.

Games[]

Junak holds multiple games at the back of the Game Parlor.

For bets of 10, 50 or 100 Bei, the Sea People currency, Dave can play a round of Shark Teeth, Find the Pearl and Card Matching.

Shark Teeth[]

Similar to many kids toys where you press down teeth of a toy until it snaps it's jaws shut.

The Shark jaw opens with a count down to show jaws with 20 teeth on the bottom row and a tooth on the right side, 1st to the 7th from the right, with a cavity with shake or flicker out of view for a moment, the one to press on that tooth will lose.

Dave and Junak will take turns pressing down 1, 2 or 3 teeth at a time until one of them presses the tooth with the cavity and loses.

This is the only game that you can consistently always win, though you may only play 5 times per 24 hours in game due to aching fingers. Making it somewhat easy 500 Bei a day payout once mastered.

Strategy[]

Junak will randomly pick the amount of teeth he will press.

Pay attention in the start for the cavity, count 5 teeth away and be the one to press that tooth so there are 4 teeth left before the cavity. That way no matter how many teeth Junak chooses to press down, you can finish just before the cavity tooth and force Junak to lose. So if Junak presses down 1, Dave should press down 3. If Junak presses down 2, Dave should press down 2. If Junak presses down 3, Dave should press down 1.

After counting the tooth 5 away from the cavity, you can count in sets of 4 from that and finish on one of those teeth then simply match Junak's presses to make sets of 4 from there so you no longer have to pay attention to the teeth.

Find the Pearl[]

In this game you try to find the hermit crab that hid the pearl. Guess which of the fast-moving hermit crabs hid the pearl!

A version of the classic ball and cups game. A pearl is placed under a shell of a hermit crab. The crabs are rapidly shuffled around, after which Dave needs to pick the shell he believes the pearl is under. If he chooses correctly, he wins the bet.

The movement is so quick in the last shuffle that it gets really difficult to see where the correct one is. A moment of lag can completely make this game into just guessing.

Card Matching[]

A basic card matching memory game, where the Dave needs to collect 5 out of 9 pairs of different sea creatures before Junak. In practice, the first to collect 4 pairs wins as it's impossible to lose at that point.

Dave and Junak take turns flipping two cards. If they match, they stay flipped, and the one who got them gets a point and the other one gets a turn. If they do not match, they get turned back facing down and the turn changes.

Junak seems to have way too much luck finding pairs at times. Making this game quite frustrating.

Jimbo's Game[]

This game got added in with the October 24 Content Update as part of the collaboration with the game Balatro.

This acts as a demo of the card game, though some feature have been removed and altered to better suit mechanics in Dave the Diver. You can play it after completing Jimbo's Game Craze!.

Seahorse Racecourse[]

After completing the sub mission Catch the Runaway Seahorses, Dave is given a seahorse and a tutorial on how to race by Yami.

The main objective is to cheer to and keep the cheering boost as close to the red without actually going into it, trying to stay on the final green level of acceleration. In later courses, obstacles will come into play where the seahorse must slide under or swim over or lose speed as it crashes into them.

The arrow on a seahorse shows it's fatigue level

  • Up: The seahorse is rested, gaining a bonus to its stats
  • Right: The seahorse is no longer rested, having its basic stats.
  • Down: The seahorse is fatigued, gaining a penalty to its stats.

Simply not racing will let the seahorse rest.

Getting Seahorses[]

To find more seahorses they simply have to be captured and brought to Yami, Dave can even decided to keep seahorses he's gathered when returning to the boat to bring them onto the next dive so they can be taken to Yami.

An easy and high grade seahorse could be found by lifting rocks in the Depths, that sometimes reveals a Lined Seahorse.
